Florida Realtors, the statewide association of local Realtor boards, has released 2011 statistics for Lee County which show a dramatic rise in median price during the past twelve months. The median selling price for Lee County homes and condominiums was $123,400 in December, a whopping 36% increase from December 2010 when the median stood at $90,700. The median price is the point at which half of all closed sales finished higher and half finished lower. The increase comes as good news for home sellers and can be attributed to a decrease in the number of foreclosures and distressed properties entering the market.

Total sales in Lee County for 2011 fell from 15,148 in 2010 to 14,134 this past year.

Statewide home sales in 2011 increased 8% from 172,462 to 185,291. The median price for all homes sold in Florida fell 3% last year from $135,900 to $131,700.
