Lenders filed 567 foreclosure lawsuits in Lee County in September, down sharply  from 765 in August and about the same as the 570 in September 2012, according to statistics from the Southwest Florida Real Estate Investors Association.

 

Bank of America filed the most foreclosures in the month: 126, followed by JPMorgan Chase Bank at 89 and Wells Fargo Bank NA at 79.

During September, contractors pulled 55 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $15.3 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 41 permits issued in August and 27 issued in September 2011, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

For the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2012, permitting for single-family residences was up 30% over the previous fiscal year.  Permitting for multi-family residences was up 9 percent over FY 2011.

During September, 18 multi-family units were permitted, compared to 29 in August and 74 in September 2011.
