Unemployment, which spiked above 13% in Southwest Florida during the great recession, will finish 2012 at its lowest point in four years.

The Florida Department Of Economic Opportunity reports that in November, Collier County had a jobless rate of 7.8%, down from 9.6% one year ago. The unemployment rate in Lee County stands at 8.3%, also down sharply from 10.5% in November 2011.

There are 11,941 Collier residents looking for work and 23,372 unemployed in Lee County.

Statewide, the unemployment rate dropped to 8.1 percent last month, the lowest since November 2008, when it stood at 7.8 percent.

There were 760,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 9,343,000.
