New Construction Home

The Lee County Board Of Commissioners, by a 4 to 1 vote, have decided to cut the impact fees on new construction by 80% for the next two years.

Impact fees ensure that new development bears a proportionate share of the cost of capital expenditures necessary to provide specific services in the County. The fees are used to pay for new schools, increasing public safety agencies, roads and other infrastructure as population growth increases. By cutting the fees, the Lee County Commissioners hope to spur the economy by increasing development, new construction and the new jobs that come with growth.

The 80% reduction means the average impact fee for a newly constructed home will be reduced by a little over $10,000.

The impact fee in Bonita Springs for a single family home is currently $12700.75. After the reduction the fee will be $2540.15. In Estero, the impact fee for single family homes will fall from the present $12,619.95 to $2523.99. Those building on Ft. Myers Beach will see their impact fee on single family homes drop from $12,616.92 to $2523.38.

The impact fees for multi-family homes and mobile homes, somewhat lower then single family homes, will also decrease by 80%.
