The median price for a single family home in Lee County jumped over 27% year over year in January.

The median price, in which half of all single family home sales are for less and half are for more, increased to $180,000 last month, up from $141,500 just one year earlier.

Total single family home sales during the month of January in Lee County tallied 745, down 3.7% when compared with the same month one year ago.

“The median price in Lee County is being driven upward due to the increase in sales within the $200,000-$400,000 range, both for single-family as well as condo properties. Due to the severe winter in the Midwest and Northeast, many seasonal visitors are purchasing homes,” said Karen Swanbeck, the association’s president, in a statement.
